The Wirral Multi-Terrain League is held each year mid week in September. Each of the 4 races is held over various terrain such as sand, rocks, mud and hills at distances between 6.5k and 8k. Please direct any enquiries to the Series Director: info@runtrue.org
Please can all entrants be sure that if they enter one of these events that they are able to complete the event in 1 hour or less. This is for the safety of both competitors and volunteers.
The rules for the 2026 series can be found below:
1. To be held each Tuesday in September:
1st Sept Wirral Country Park, 7pm
8th. Sept. Royden Park, Frankby, 7pm
15th. Sept. Harrison Drive, Wallasey 6.30pm
22nd. Sept. Arrowe Park 6.30pm
2. This competition is open to First Claim members of UK Athletics affiliated clubs.
Second claim runners may participate if their first claim club does not participate in the competition.
Runners must run in their recognised club colours.
3. Senior race distances will be between 6.5K - 8K.
Minimum age on the night of the first race for senior (main) event is 15.
Junior (U.15 and 11 and over) races will be approx. 2 mile.
4. Please note that competitors should not enter these races unless they can be sure that they are capable of completing the course in under 1 hour. This is for the safety of both competitors and volunteers.
5. Trophies will be awarded for the series as a whole. The number of trophies per category will depend on entry. Individual awards will be based on best position in three out of four races unless two or more athletes are on equal points. In this instance the award will go to the highest finisher in the fourth race or third race if neither athlete competes in the final race.
Age categories for individuals are as follows:
Female: U17, U20, O.40, O45, O.50, O55, O60, O65, 070 Male: U17, U20, O.40, O45, O.50, O55, O60, O65, 070
Plus, overall individual awards for the best three females and males.
Ages as at date of first race.
Teams to score over all four races. Male teams to consist of 5 athletes, Female teams to consist of 3 athletes. Should teams be on equal points then position of last scorer in last race will be used to allocate the team position.
Team awards to go to first 3 teams
Junior medals based on best three out of four races, unless athletes are on equal points then the highest finisher in fourth race will be taken into account. Awards will go to first three of each sex.
There will be no team awards only individual awards for 1st three U13 Boys, 1st three U13 Girls, 1st three U15 Boys and first three U15 girls for juniors.
Any concerns or issues should initially be raised with The Series Director – Nigel Crompton, or the Race Director (see below) who will consult with the Race Officials. The Race Officials decision is final.
6. At the discretion of the race director and for safety reasons a cut off time may be imposed on two lap races. If imposed competitors will be asked to complete the race after the first lap. This is to avoid people a) running over rough ground at night and b) marshals and tail runners having to be out on the course after dark.
7. Entry fee of £6 per athlete per race payable online to Nifty Entries. £2 per junior (U13/ U15) Entries will be online prior to the event (although entries can be placed up to 30 minutes before the race)
Beyond expenses, monies raised are for trophies/medals and spot prizes.
8. A full set of results will be available at Nifty Entries and a link on the Series Web page as soon as is practical.
